Caracas Airport Improvements

Did anyone else noticed the improvements to the Maiquetia Airport this summer? When we arrived three weeks ago after our summer break, there were a couple new sights for us.

New thing number one: a new and improved duty free shop opening soon! Technically, no, it’s not actually new yet. But the construction is new! However, the cynic says there is no telling if there is actually any construction happening. But the wall is new!

As you can see in the image below, the sign says “very soon,” and that it will be “the best duty-free store in Latin American and the Caribbean.” Quite the claim. Kat’s excited.

New thing number two: the luggage cart that Graham is riding on. There were new luggage carts! This was truly an unexpected improvement. We kinda wondered what was going on. Was this the same place we left in June?

The unfortunate reality is that the new and improved Venezuela ended there. Outside the terminal, there was not so much hope to be found.
