Graham Starts Nursery

He was so brave. He held back tears and sniffled a little. “Come back in six minutes, okaaaaay?”

That was the first day. Since then he’s been comforting his classmates who are less ready to leave their parents for a few hours. These first three weeks of school have been smoother than we had hoped. Today he scampered off to the playground without so much as a backward glance.

First Day

PE with Mr. Mike every day.

His lead teacher is a new foreign hire named Robin. We’re happy to see that she is bringing new pedagogy and fresh ideas to the Early Childhood Program. Originally we were a bit worried that Graham might be over-looked in a program which seemed to be so focused on teaching local Venezuelan students to speak English. But thankfully we were wrong. The classroom instruction is play-based, they have PE every day, art and music once a week. Graham is the oldest of his nine classmates and should therefore have some good opportunities to practice being a leader. It’s so nice to have him walking to school with us and we certainly look forward to seeing how he grows this year.

Back to School Night nursery video. See if you can spot the mohawk hair!

What a brave boy! I am glad it was a smoother transition than planned for. That makes it that much more exciting. Sending hugs and kisses.
