Sapporo in Caracas

One of the best sushi restaurants in the city is Fugu. It’s possible to feel under-dressed there, so we go when we have a reason to wear more than t-shirts.  This past weekend the reason behind our visit was Graham’s babysitter’s/close friend’s birthday.

Now, normally when you ask for beer options at a restaurant in Venezuela you get one of two answers.

Variant #1: “Verde y azul.”

Variant #2: “Polar Light.”

You can imagine my surprise and delight, then, when the waiter said: “Solera Azul, Polar Light, Tovar y Sapporo.”

Mike explaining his unbridled joy and Sean looking on in disbelief.

Having Tovar as an option would have been sufficient in itself, but Sapporo? My emotional state went first from disbelief to denial, then to acceptance, and finally, joy.

Innes is so happy he can’t even keep his eyes open.

Perhaps the next time we go to Fugu the reason may simply be because they have Sapporo. At least, that would be good enough for me.
