Not surprisingly in light of continued unrest on the streets of Caracas, the 2014 CAF-Caracas Marathon has been postponed indefinitely. The race was scheduled for the 23rd of February.

So as not to disappoint and disrupt the travel plans of overseas participants, race organisers may have toyed with the idea of using demonstrators’ blockades to convert the famously flat course into a jumps course. That would have meant the race could have gone ahead without a time consuming clean up.

However, as the safety of the runners could not be guaranteed, common sense has obviously prevailed and it was decided to run the race at a later date.
