6th Grade Speed Dating on Valentine’s Day

Another bit of fun from the ECA Middle School…

With the help of Mary, our wonderful librarian, Kat and I planned a speed dating event for our 6th graders on Valentine’s Day. Inappropriate? Not at all. Difficult? Not even close. Leading gullible 6th graders into believing their teachers would actually put them in a real speed dating situation was quite simple really, not to mention a whole lot of fun. And when they finally found out that they would be “dating” books, not people, the collective sigh of relief was, for me, the cherry on top. At the end of class they all checked out one or two “dates” to take home with them. I’d say they all got lucky.

Here’s a video recap. Enjoy! (If you are a teacher yourself, there is enough in the video to get you started on your own speed dating event.)
